Technology Solutions to Drive Process Improvements for Patients, Physicians, and Employees
DALLAS, Texas and CINCINNATI, Ohio August 20, 2007 — Children’s Medical Center, located in Dallas, Texas, plans to expand their use of workflow and document management solutions to better support patient care for the growing pediatric population of North Texas. By strategically investing in these technologies, Children’s Medical Center Dallas will implement a secure, enterprise-wide document workflow solution to optimize document-centric business processes across hospital departments and electronically link its new hospital, Children's Medical Center Legacy in Plano, TX, which opens in 2008.
Applying Technology to Achieve Excellence
Children’s Medical Center Dallas, one of the largest pediatric healthcare providers in the nation, continues to improve enterprise-wide access to clinical information, as well as the timeliness of communication with primary care providers and referring physicians in providing quality patient care. To achieve this, Children’s will deploy Streamline Health’s enterprise suite of workflow solutions, starting with the Health Information Management suite integrated with their Cerner®, Epic® and other clinical and patient financial systems, in a multiphase initiative.
Implementation plans also involve integration with the medical center’s current Lawson suite of business applications to improve the efficiency of processes in the document-intensive administrative areas of accounts payable, human resources and materials management. Children’s plans to leverage Streamline Health, Inc (NASDAQ Capital Market: STRM) solutions to increase staff productivity through the use of more advanced document workflow.
For patients and their families, this use of document workflow technology will help to eliminate delays and make registration a more paperless process, including electronically managing orders and documents faxed in from physicians’ offices. “These solutions offer interoperability with our existing systems, which makes it easier for information to be shared throughout the enterprise,” according to Pamela Arora, chief information officer for Children’s Medical Center. “Our organization will have the flexibility to manage the flow of information with this enterprise approach to document workflow, leading to more informed decisions for quality patient care.”
Children’s Medical Center Dallas is a private, not-for-profit academic healthcare facility dedicated exclusively to the comprehensive care of children from birth to age 18. Children’s has been named to the 100 Most Wired list for 2007, sponsored by Hospital and Health Networks magazine to recognize the effective use of information technology in achieving clinical and operational excellence.
Brian Patsy, president and CEO of Streamline Health, remarked, “Children’s Medical Center Dallas is a leader in deploying technology to streamline clinical, financial and administrative processes while providing the highest quality of patient care. We look forward to assisting them in their expanded use of advanced document workflow solutions across their organization, to achieve the significant benefits of an integrated approach that links transactional and document-centric healthcare processes.”
